Mangaluru, Sep 9: Bala Yakshakoota Kadri organised two-day Yakshagana festival titled 'Dwidina Dheengina Sambhrama' Yakshagana performance and Yaksha Vaidya award ceremony.
Dakshina Kannada district Sahitya Parishad president, K S Pradeep Kumar Kalkura, who inaugurated the festival, said that the entire world has been overcome by a feeling of lethargy and inertia because of coronavirus. He said that when the world was covered by gloom and inertia in the past, Lord Krishna had imparted knowledge through Bhagavad Gita. He said this programme aimed at driving away inertia through art form is worth appreciating.
Honorary president of Bala Yakshakoota, Dinesh Devadiga Kadri presided. Entrepreneur Kunjathodi Vasudeva Bhat Kadri, president of the Koota Krishna Bhat Kadri, Navaratri Samiti president, Vishnumurty Kulai, Namma Kudla director Leelaksha Karkera, Journalists’ Union central secretary Jitendra Kundeshwara, and OMPL deputy general manager of human resources section R K Rao, were present.
Yaksha Vaidya award
As a representative of doctors working like warriors during this difficult coronavirus-infected period, Dr Sunil Mundkoor, paediatrician of KMC Manipal, who is an expert Yakshagana artiste, was conferred with the 'Yaksha Vaidya' award. Convener Ramachandra Bhat Ellur, delivered introductory address.
Kunjathodi Vasudeva Bhat Kadri, who presided, hailed Ellur for training children and women in Yakshagana free of cost without expecting anything in return. He appreciated him for providing them a good platform to exhibit their art.
Honorary president Dinesh Devadiga Kadri and 'Namma Kudla' director Leelaksha Karkera, were present.
Jitendra Kundeshwar welcomed. OMPL's R K Rao presented the programme and proposed the vote of thanks.
With the coming together of Bala Yakshakoota and Mahila Yakshakoota, 'Gadayuddha' Yakshagana episode was staged on the first day. On the second day, 'Babhruvahana' was presented. Dayanand Kodical was the Bhagawath.
