Mangalore, Apr 1: It is learnt that the railways have conceded to one of the demands of the people of Coastal Karnataka. Accordingly, the day train between the city and Yeshwarantpur, which now runs thrice a week, will be made a daily train. The date from which this will be affected, will be decided after properly analyzing the availability of bogies, it is learnt.
This information was given to MP, Nalin Kumar Kateel, by the divisional Manager of the south western division of railways in Mysore. Kateel had met the minister of state in the railway ministry, K H Muniayppa, and urged him to convert this train into a daily train, apart from requesting the south western railways in Hubli. Already, orders have been passed in this connection, it is learnt.
The Puttur Railway Passengers Association had in the past, sent letters to the MP, district in-charge minister and the minister of state for railways, demanding for increasing the frequency of the train. It had also sought details of the passenger traffic, reservation position and had batted for improving the railway connectivity between the coast and the state’s capital.
