Udupi, Sep 7: A boy who was sitting alone in the Jumadinagara bus stand near Kodavoor of Malpe in the district was rescued due to the presence of mind of Mescom personnel Ravi Kodavoor.
Ravi noticed that the boy, who was aged around nine years, was sitting alone for quite some time in the Jumadinagara bus stand. He immediately called the children's helpline number. The district children rescue unit acted swiftly and arrived at the bus stand. On inquiry the boy was saying only his name and could not tell the name of his parents or place.

The personnel of children rescue unit informed the matter to the women police, who were about to arrange temporary shelter for the boy. However, a woman claiming to be the mother of the boy approached the women police station saying that her son is lost. Later it was verified that the woman is indeed the mother of the boy who was sitting in the bus stand. The boy was handed over to mother in the presence of Violet Femina, inspector of women police station.
Legal probationary officer of district women rescue unit Prabhakara Achar, personnel of women police station Jyoti and personnel of child helpline Nethra and Jyoti took part in the rescue operation.
