Mangalore, Mar 30: Preparations are on full swing for the SSLC examination, by both the students who are appearing for this examination, and the district administration, which has the onus of conducting it in a free and fair manner. This time, the examination will be a nine-day affair from April 1.
In Dakshina Kannada district, 95 examination centres have been set up for the 33,236 students who will be appearing for this examination. Six centres in the city area here have been identified as hyper sensitive. This information was given at a preparatory meeting organized at the auditorium in the office of the Dakshina Kannada district deputy commissioner on Monday March 29, in which additional deputy commissioner, S A Prabhakar Sharma, and zilla panchayat chief executive officer, P Shivashankar, participated.
Out of the above, 29,498 are regular students, 17,156 are boys and 16,080 are girls. Among the students, 877 are repeat candidates. 2,232 will be appearing for the examination as private candidates.
Taluk level inspection teams and local level squads will keep an eye to ensure that the examinations are held strictly as per rules and regulations governing them. Block education officers and officials of various departments were present at the meeting.
The deputy commissioner, through an order, has enforced section 144 up to a distance of 200 metres from the respective examination centres during the period of the SSLC examination. The examinations will begin at 10.30 am, and the students will be given 15 minutes time till 10.45 am to read the question papers, it was explained.
