Moodbidri, Sep 4: 'Bata', the world-famous brand of prestigious footwear, opened its exclusive store in Prabhu Comlplex near the bus stand here on Friday September 4.
Chief priest of Moodbidri zone, Fr Paul Sequeira, delivered the benedictory address on the occasion. Chairman of Alvas Education Foundation, Dr M MohanAlva, inaugurated the store.
Alva said that Ashwin Pereira has created an identity of his own in the industrial sector by working very hard through his 'ICare Developers'. He acknowledged the contribution of Ashwin in the development of this town. He noted that Ashwin has made another effort of introducing Bata store to Moodbidri, and wished him well.
Ashwin Pereira's mother, Teresa Pereia, and Melissa D'Souza's mother, Wilma Pereia, lit the lamp.
Bata south region franchisee operation general manager Muhammed Sigbuddin and Bata ACM Irfan Khan, extended greetings and best wishes.
Br Victor Crasta, Fr Rony, former minister K Abhay Chandra Jain, Moodbidri Saarvajanika Ganeshotsava Samiti president K Sripati Bhat, BJP leader K P Jagadish Adhikari, MCS Bank president Bahubali Prasad, municipal councillors Rajesh Naik and Prasad Kumar, MUDS chairman Meghanath Shetty, Panchashakti owner Ranjith Poojary, entrepreneur Abdul Razack Perinje, Dharanendra Kumar and others were present.
