Udupi, Mar 27: Rs 41 lac Jomluteertha Drinking water project was inaugurated by home minister Dr V S Acharya at a programme held under the auspices of Udupi Zilla Panchayat (ZP) and gram panchayat 38th Kalthur at Santekatte here on Saturday March 27.
After inaugurating the project, minister said that the region will be made available 1.40 lac litres of water through the project. An additional 2.6 lac litres will be distributed to Nalkoor and Kenjoor surroundings in the project next in the pipeline, he said.
Dr Acharya said that in the earlier years, the rural area had reeled under problems due to flood and other problems. Therefore the state budget for the year 2010-11 will focus on rural development, he added.
MP D V Sadananda Gowda, ZP members B K hedge and Shankar Poojary, taluk panchayat member Sunita D Shetty and ZP chide executive officer Pranesh Rao were present.
