Kasargod, Mar 26: It is learnt that the investigating team has found that a youth from Kannur had close links with the man who orchestrated the Mumbai blasts, David Headley, a Pakistani.

A team of the National Investigating Agency has collected evidences that point out to the role played by Ayub alias Mohammed Sabir from Kannur to the destructive activities of Headley. The Agency, which is busy verifying the involvement of coastal Malayalees with the dreaded terrorist, had collected sufficient evidences to prove Sabir’s involvement with Headley, when the news of the recovery of the passport and other documents in the name of Sabir having been found from the room in Iran where Sabir used to live, came in. The information collected by the team has already been conveyed to the Intelligence Bureau.

It is said that Sabir, who is well-versed in several languages, had ensured that Tadiyandavida Nassir got support and coordination for his activities at the international level. Nassir has informed the investigating team that Sabir now lives in the Gulf.  Some speculate that he has already been taken into custody by the international investigating agencies. Mohammed Sabir is one of the accused in a case of terrorism activity registered in Yedakkad police station.

Sabir reportedly had an active role in the terrorists activities of Tadiyandavida Nassir, said to be the South India commander of Lashkar-e-Toiba. The investigating team has learnt that Sabir had rich experience of convincing the youths about the aim of the organization, giving them guidance and planning of attacks.

A separate investigating team has been formed to hunt down Sabir, and also to collect details of the Malayalees involved with terrorist activities.
