Karkala, Mar 26: Recounting his tribulations during the time he was the captive of the abductors, real estate businessman Leo Pereira said that the kidnappers had snatched away his gold chain and bracelet valued at about Rs 70,000 in addition to cash amounting to Rs 80,000 found in the car. “They also forcibly got my signature on eight demand promissory notes duly affixing the revenue stamps, and signatures on three blank white sheets. Even though they pulled away the ring found on my finger, they retuned it after learning that it was my wedding ring,” he explained.
“When I turned towards Attur Church while the abductors took me from Kabettu here in my car on Monday evening, and prayed St Lawrence to save me, the abductors questioned to me as to where was my God. After the news that the ransom was paid came in, the abductors washed the car, took it to three temples in Shimoga to pray and then applied sandalwood paste to the car,” Leo Pereira explained.
In the meantime, the policemen are continuing with their efforts to locate the place where the abductors had kept Leo Pereira. A few people including locals have been questioned in this connection.
