Mangalore, Mar 26: “The anti-cow slaughter law passed by the state government is a good move and is well-appreciated by the minority communities of the state. It is for the protection of cows as it is holy besides being helpful to farmers”, said Franklin Monteiro, president, District Minority Morcha of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
Speaking at a press meet at the BJP district office in the city on Thursday March 25, he said that the law was opposed by only a handful of people, supported by the so-called secular parties.
“The citizens of the state have appreciated the move by the government to protect the cows. Dalits and minority members of the society have especially welcomed it”, he said.
“Congress leader B Janardhana Poojary and Veerappa Moily claimed that the law is against the Dalit community. It is an anti-Dalit statement, so Poojary and Moily should apologize for their statement”, added Monteiro.
He asked all the communities to support the anti-cow slaughter bill without political affiliations as it is needed for a nation which respects the cow as god.
