Bengaluru, Aug 27: Karnataka government secretariat has laid down additional regulations in a circular dated August 27 to government hospitals, medical colleges and concerned officials to reduce the percentage of corona-related deaths to below 1 per cent.
The directions as per the circular state:
- Those with symptoms should be examined immediately, treated with suitable medicines and admitted to hospitals if necessary.
- Survey of people succumbing to the virus infection to be carried out every week. A committee of district surgeon/medical superintendent and experts should take suitable action to prevent further deaths. The percentage of deaths among the vulnerable should be recorded.
- Tests should be conducted of people who are above the age of 60, suffering from diabetes, blood pressure, cancer etc and treat them promptly as per regulations.
- Regular Covid tests of health workers should be conducted. It must be also examined that they do not get infected while using PPE and extend necessary training in the matter.
- Treatment on patients in ICU to be performed by obtaining guidance via Tele-ICU.
- To ensure there is no scarcity of oxygen, ICUs, medicines, PPE kits, masks and other instruments.
The medical superintendents, district surgeons and taluk medical officers are given the responsibility of adhering to the regulations. A report regarding the actions carried out should be submitted on a weekly basis to the director of health and medical services.
