Bengaluru, Aug 27: DCM and minister for transport Laxman Savadi inaugurated the 'Stree Showchalaya' (women's toilet), that is built by KSRTC using their scrapped bus.
Speaking on the occasion, Savadi said, "This is one more step by KSRTC towards cleanliness. Bengaluru International Airport authority has borne the cost of this toilet under Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) scheme.”
This unique toilet includes a place for baby feeding, machine that vends sanitary napkins, Incinerator, place for changing diapers of babies, Indian and Western style commodes, wash basins and solar lights. The whole toilet is powered by solar energy.
The cost of converting the scrap KSRTC bus into a modern toilet is Rs 12 lac. Savadi said, "KSRTC is concerned about the health of women in the society. This is the first time that such a unique toilet is built using a scrapped bus. The corporation has implemented many facilities that are women-friendly. Our effort in making bus stands and buses women-friendly will continue."
