Bengaluru, Aug 25: Minister for primary and secondary education, S Suresh Kumar, said that the teachers would be instructed against teaching controversial content found in the sixth standard social science textbook where Hindu religious beliefs are mocked at.
The textbook mentions that in the past, food shortage was encountered because of performing fire sacrifices (Yajna, Yaga). This issue was being debated in social media since the last few weeks. Paryaya Admar Math Sri Ishapriya Swamiji, who noticed this, had sent a voice message to minister Suresh Kumar, expressing disappointment at the fact that wrong information is being imparted to the students through the textbooks.

The minister, in response, said that this textbook was not printed this year, nor had he got it revised during his term. He said that the teachers will be asked not to teach this controversial content to the students. Paryaya Admar Math sources said that he assured to remove this section of the text during the revision of the textbook next year.
