Kasargod: BJP stages protests against Kerala government over interstate pass regulations

Kasargod, Aug 25: BJP led protests at Talapady on Tuesday August 25 opposing restrictions on interstate travel. The protesters removed barricades and raised slogans against the interstate travel pass restrictions imposed by Kerala state government.

Though the government at the center has stated that no permission is required for interstate travel, Kerala state government has restricted travel to Karnataka and enabled with passes. The BJP Kasargod district committee led ‘pass violating protests’ against the practice at Talapady border on Tuesday.

BJP district committee president, advocate Srikanth to begin the protests said that hundreds of people are facing hurdles in jobs and businesses because of unnecessary pass and restrictions on travel. “The policy of the Kerala state government is anti-people,” he said.

BJP Manjeshwar mandala president Manikanta Rai led the protest. The protest rally began near Petrol bunk at Talapady encircled and went through the toll booth below up to the Kerala state police centre on the interstate border. BJP’s Suresh Kumar Pookatte, Sudhama Gosada, advocate Navin Raj K J, Padmanabha Kadappara, Yadav Badaje, Adarsh B M, Rajesh Tuminad, Lokesh Mada, U G Rai, Dr Jayaprakash Narayana Thottethodi and others also led the protests.

BJP president Srikanth Kerala criticized the Kerala state government as less in intellect. “MLAs in the opposition are weak. Therefore, BJP is determined to drive away the government,” he said.

    Hooliganism is the ideology of BJP workers of the country. Why have the BJP workers not carrying plates and burning candles while protesting? Why cannot the people do business in Kerala and work in Kerala, what is the necessity of crossing the border and working and doing business in Karnataka.
    Would these same BJP Keralites protest if any Middle East (GCC)country closes their borders?

    Unlock 3.0 was in place since end of July... What were these guys doing till date? Waiting for Karnataka Govt to remove restrictions and then blame their own govt? Both state govts continued to uphold restrictions against the Unlock 3.0 guidelines... They should have protested on 1st Aug if they really cared for these people; but then they would get kicked by their bros from DK.

    Long back, lot of KL students used to come to Mlr for studies in Govt College... white lungi was their "national" attire... Principal had banned the same... they went on strike for their "RWL" (i.e. Right to Wear Lungi")...

    BJP was silent when Karnataka closed its borders inhuman way. Even serious patients was not allowed to cross border. BJP Kasaragod did not show their courage to request their BJP to allow patients. Now, whom they are showing their drama. And about centrals circular. Kerala is ready to open all borders, if central takes responsibility of increasing Covid cases. Center neither take responsibility, nor help states economically. Even the funds are used biased.

    My dear. Thats called tit for Tat. When they needed Mangalore city during the critical time for their Citizens with serious cases you closed the border as if Karnataka state was like some country and now you want them to open it as per your Wish and you blame them for behaving like a country? Why didnt you riase your voice then? Now Sit down and wait, it will happen when they want it .
