Kasargod, Aug 25: BJP led protests at Talapady on Tuesday August 25 opposing restrictions on interstate travel. The protesters removed barricades and raised slogans against the interstate travel pass restrictions imposed by Kerala state government.
Though the government at the center has stated that no permission is required for interstate travel, Kerala state government has restricted travel to Karnataka and enabled with passes. The BJP Kasargod district committee led ‘pass violating protests’ against the practice at Talapady border on Tuesday.
BJP district committee president, advocate Srikanth to begin the protests said that hundreds of people are facing hurdles in jobs and businesses because of unnecessary pass and restrictions on travel. “The policy of the Kerala state government is anti-people,” he said.
BJP Manjeshwar mandala president Manikanta Rai led the protest. The protest rally began near Petrol bunk at Talapady encircled and went through the toll booth below up to the Kerala state police centre on the interstate border. BJP’s Suresh Kumar Pookatte, Sudhama Gosada, advocate Navin Raj K J, Padmanabha Kadappara, Yadav Badaje, Adarsh B M, Rajesh Tuminad, Lokesh Mada, U G Rai, Dr Jayaprakash Narayana Thottethodi and others also led the protests.
BJP president Srikanth Kerala criticized the Kerala state government as less in intellect. “MLAs in the opposition are weak. Therefore, BJP is determined to drive away the government,” he said.
