Puttur: Man preparing for daughter's marriage killed in accident

Puttur, Aug 24: The pillion rider of a two-wheeler fell down after the rider lost control over the vehicle when a street dog suddenly blocked their path. The pillion rider was killed in this accident, which happened at Kaudhichar on Mani - Mysuru highway on Sunday August 23 afternoon.

Krishnappa Naik was a construction supervisor. He was returning home after visiting the temple in the company of his daughter, when tragedy struck. When the Honda Activa scooter was nearing the Kaudichar bridge, a dog crossed their path all of a sudden, as a result of which the vehicle fell down. Krishnappa Naik hit the road hard and his head suffered deep injuries. He was immediately admitted into Adarsh Hospital in the town. Later, he was referred to a hospital at Mangaluru for advanced care. But he breathed his last on the way. The body was handed over to the family after performing postmortem.

Suneeta, who was riding the two-wheeler, escaped with minor nicks and cuts. She was treated as an outpatient. The deceased is survived by wife Susheela, and daughters Suneeta, Saumya and Ramya.

Krishnappa Naik's eldest daughter's engagement had taken place six weeks ago and the marriage function was to be held on August 28. But he suddenly lost his life five days before his daughter's marriage.
