Bengaluru: Government Doctors Association calls of stir

Daijiworld Media Network - Bengaluru (SP)

Bengaluru, Aug 24: President of Karnataka State Government Doctors Association, Dr Srinivas, said that the organization has withdrawn the statewide strike call it had issued earlier. The strike call had been given in protest against the suicide committed by Nanjangud taluk medical officer, Dr Nagendra, reportedly on account of the pressure of work.

The association had complained that the higher officials had brought pressure on Dr Nagendra besides threatening him, as a result of which it said the officer had ended his life. The organization had decided that the government doctors will stay away from work from August 24 onward. Dr Srinivas said that the protest planned was withdrawn as the government has assured that all the demands made by the association including holding of the probe would be met and also in view of the fact that such a strike inconveniences the general public.
