Daijiworld Media Network - Mangaluru (SP)

Mangaluru, Aug 24: The instructions from the central government, issued on Saturday, August 22, sent clear instructions to all the states that no restrictions can be placed on interstate transportation of goods and passengers, has kindled the hopes of people travelling between the city and Kasargod. This instruction, sent by union home secretary, Ajay Bhalla, said that restricting such movements would be a clear violation of the Disaster Management Act guidelines. He also said that no special passes or permissions need be obtained to travel between states.

This instruction is expected to end the ordeal of hundreds of people who travel between Kasargod and the city for business and vocations apart from daily workers. Kasargod district collector, Dr D Sajith Babu, said that his office has not received any advice in this regard. He clarified that he will move ahead as per the state government directions.

On Monday, August 24, deputy commissioner of Dakshina Kannada district, Dr Rajendra K V, is scheduled to discuss the matter with the state chief secretary. A clear picture is likely to emerge out of this meeting.
