Bengaluru, Aug 21: Karnataka Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa offered pooja to Cauvery and baagina to the Krishna Raja Sagar (KRS) reservoir to mark its filling up to the full capacity on Friday.
Yediyurappa flew by a helicopter from the HAL Old Airport in the City and alighted at Mandya in the morning.
This is the first time after several years that KRS has been full to its storage capacity of 124.80 ft.
Mysuru District in-charge and cooperation minister S T Somashekar and BJP supported independent MP for Mandya Sumalatha Ambarish and others were present on the occasion.
The Chief Minister later offered pooja and baagina at the Kabini reservoir too.
With all the reservoirs in the Cauvery basin being filled to capacity this year, Karnataka will not have any problems on release of Cauvery waters to neighbouring Tamil Nadu as even the Mettur dam in the State has reached its full capacity this year.
