New Delhi, Aug 20: In the list of Swachh Survekshan 2020 released by the union government, Mysuru of Karnataka has secured fifth place in the whole country. The first place is bagged by Indore for the fourth time in succession. While Surat is placed second, Navi Mumbai of Maharashtra secured the third spot.
The list was released by Housing minister Hardeep Singh Puri. The list gives details of 129 cities. Mysuru is placed fifth overall. However, in the group of cities with a population between 3 to 10 lac, Mysuru has bagged first place in the country.
Union Urban Development ministry had conducted a cleanliness survey in Mysuru in the month of January. More than 4,400 cities took part in the survey. There was a keen tussle between Ambikapurnagar of Chhattisgarh and Mysuru. Union minister for housing has lauded Mysuru. MP of Mysuru-Kodagu Pratap Simha, MLA S A Ramdas, mayor Tasneema, deputy mayor Sridhar and health officer of Mysuru city corporation Dr Nagaraj witnessed the announcement of the minister.
The survey was completed in 28 days. More than 1.7 crore civilians registered for this survey. More than 11 crore people have expressed their opinions on social media. More than 5.5 lac cleaning labourers are connected with social welfare projects.
