Mangaluru, Aug 20: Many young girls and women love their hair. They can go to any extent to take care of their hair to look more beautiful. Most of the time the hair which is cut in the salons is thrown away and goes waste. But the hair which is cut can bring smiles on the faces of women and children if it is donated.
However, very few know that one can donate his or her hair to make wigs, which can be used by people who have lost hair due to chemotherapy, radiation therapy, alopecia, trichotillomania, burns and other medical issues.
Similarly, Reshma Ramdas, resident of Shakthinagar in the city, has shown a kind gesture by donating her beautiful hair to bring a smile on the face of a woman affected with cancer, on Wednesday, August 19.
Speaking to Daijiworld, Reshma said, "Two years ago, my friend had donated her hair which inspired me to donate my hair. But I did not know the way how we can donate hair and whom to approach. As I had long hair, I was desirous of donating it. My husband Ramdas recommended a hair bank to me. This, I felt, was a golden opportunity to donate my hair and therefore I happily agreed for the same."
"They had even sent me videos of how a cancer patient feels when they are given something which impressed me a lot. I decided to donate my hair to a hair bank in Thrissur. My husband supported me in this decision. I am delighted to donate my hair that brought a smile on the face of a cancer patient,” said Reshma.
