Udupi: DCC observes birth anniversary of former PM Rajiv Gandhi, CM Devaraj Urs

Udupi, Aug 20: The birth anniversary of former Prime Minister late Rajiv Gandhi and former chief minister late Devaraj Urs was celebrated by the district Congress Committee at the new Congress Bhavan near Bannanje here on Thursday, August 20.

The leaders of Congress paid floral tribute to both prominent leaders. 

Senior Congress leader U R Sabhapati said, "Former Prime Ministers like Rajiv Gandhi, Narasimha Rao, Manmohan Singh contributed a lot for this nation. Rajiv Gandhi had foresighted about future India. Congress leaders have given importance to poor people of the society."
 


















 
"Rajiv Gandhi introduced the Panchayat Raj system and made a revolution in Information and technology. The eight years of Devraj Urs was a golden era. He executed land reforms policy in Karnataka under the guidance of Indira Gandhi," he added.
 
"However, now the entire scenario of the nation has changed. Because BJP is dividing the country by raising Hinduism," said Sabhapati.

The DCC Udupi members gifted a smartphone to PUC student Meghana, who is a visually impaired girl.  

Former minister Vinay Kumar Sorake, M A Gafhoor, Dinesh Putran, Deviprasad Shetty, Harish Kini, Vishwas Amin, Bhaskar Rao Kediyur, Bhujanga Shetty, Prakhyath Shetty, Shabbir Ahmad, Geetha Vagle, Annayya Sherigar, Kirthi Shetty, Veronica Cornelio, Dr Sunitha Shetty, Roshini Olivera, Ramadevi, Nithyananda Shetty, Shashidhar Shetty Yellur Sakaram, Udyavar Nagesh Kumar, Mahabala Kundar, Krishnamurthy Acharya, Ismail Athrady, Janardhan Bhandarkar, Yatish Karkera, Ramesh Kanchan, Meenakshi Madhav Bannanje, Ramathulla, Harish Shetty Pangala, Prabhakar Acharya, Ganeshraj Saralebettu and others were present.
