Bengaluru, Aug 17: The Karnataka Regional Service of Communion (KRSC), the officially recognized Catholic Charismatic Body for Karnataka by the Karnataka Region Catholic Bishops Council (KRCBC) embarked on a 24-Hour Chain Intercessory Online Prayer from August 14, 6 pm to August 15, 6 pm to mark the Feast of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary and the 74th Independence Day celebration.
The prayers were held at Paalana Bhavana Chapel of the Archdiocese of Bangalore in five different languages – English, Kannada, Konkani, Malayalam and Tamil.
All the 14 Catholic dioceses of Karnataka were involved in this mega prayer session which was viewed by people of all faiths in Karnataka, India and the different continents of the world.

The inaugural prayer was offered by Archbishop Peter Machado, Archbishop of Bengaluru and KRCBC president. Thereafter the nine Bishops, the Apostolic administrator of Karwar diocese and the vicar general of Shivamogga diocese, gave a talk on different virtues elucidated in the Bible which was telecast for the viewers. Each linguistic group was given three hours for Adoration and one hour for Holy Mass. Special prayer intentions were circulated in advance to each diocesan Bishop with a request to invite all the faithful to participate in the online prayer sessions.
The prayer intentions included: Healing of all COVID-19 patients world over; wisdom and knowledge for scientists to find a vaccine and medicine for this global pandemic; courage, confidence and strength to the front line warriors and their families; and wisdom and the spirit of discernment for the governments and officials of the world to make the right decisions to mitigate the suffering of humanity. The other prayers were for the church at large and Catholic Church in particular; for the unity of broken families in the world; for prevention of abortion; for succour to the jobless, poor and hungry in the world; for healing from all incurable diseases, substance abuse and deficiencies; for the needs of every Catholic diocese; and for bishops, priests, religious and laity to grow in “Faith” with the theme “Lord Increase our Faith & have Mercy on us your people."
The entire program was organized by the KRSC team led by chairman Simon Rodrigues with the active guidance and support of the KRCBC appointed episcopal advisor Bishop Lawrence Mukkuzhy, Bishop of Belthangady, spiritual advisor Fr Franklin D’Souza and the Archdiocesan Media Centre.
