Bengaluru, Aug 16: Rumours are making rounds that MLA Akhanda Srinivas Murthy, who lost his house in the recent rioting that occurred under the limits of DJ Halli and KG Halli police station limits, will join BJP.
It is said there is a possibility that due to enmity on the MLA, certain people joined hands with SDPI and might have attacked his house and created a ruckus.
Srinivas Murthy was a JD(S) leader. He joined Congress in 2017 according to the offer made to him by former chief minister and leader of opposition Siddaramaiah. He had defeated Prasanna Kumar of JD(S) in the 2018 assembly elections. Though he has lost his house in the recent rioting, Congress has not supported him. It is said that for the same reason Srinivas Murthy is upset.
Giving clarification on the reports of him joining BJP, MLA Akhanda Srinivas Murthy said that he will be very much in Congress. He also clarified that he will not desert Congress party under any circumstances and join BJP and that this is a false rumour.
Responding to the riot incident, the MLA said, "I am in good rapport with all. What was the need to set my house on fire? If the position of an MLA is like this, what is the plight of a common man? CBI inquiry should be ordered into this incident. The culprits have to be brought to the book."
