Udupi, Mar 19: The first ever Bannanje Babu Amin folklore award, being given from this year onwards, will go to renowned scholar, Amrut Someshwar, and accomplished Padadana singer, Kargi Nalike. This was announced by the president of Kemmalaje Janapada Prakashana that has instituted the awards, Gananath Yekkar, at a press conference organized here on Thursday March 18.
Henceforth, the Prakashana will be giving out awards every year, to a folklore scholar and a folk artiste. The award comprises of a citation, a memento and cash reward of Rs 10,000. The awards function will be held on March 28, in which, minister, Dr V S Acharya will hand over these awards. At the said function, a book, ‘Tulunadu Daivagalu - Samskrutika Vishleshane’ written by scholar Bannanje Babu Amin, will also be released by the minister, Yekkar added.
Prakashana secretary, N Monohar Sanil, members, S A Krishnaiah and M Anand Sanil, were present at the press conference.
