Beltangady: Excise officials raid suspected illicit liquor shops

Beltangady, Aug 14: The Dakshina Kannada district team of the excise department from the office of the excise joint commissioner, Mangaluru, led by excise superintendent, and the excise deputy superintendent of Bantwal subdivision, conducted joint raids on suspected illicit liquor manufacturing breweries and illegal toddy shops on Thursday August 13.

Raids also targeted farms attached to some houses, houses of some persons who had earlier been caught doing illegal things, and other spots. However, the officials failed to find any irregularities during the raids.

The officials had also received complaint that toddy mixed with powder was being sold at a toddy shop at Aramplady in Shibaje village. A spot in Kuntalpalke on Hatyadka village was also raided. The officials said that the raids did not yield any fishy activities.
