Mangalore: Congress Committee Protests Against MCC Negligence of Interior Roads

Mangalore, Mar 18: South block of the District Congress Committee (DCC) protested against the step motherly treatment of the Mangalore City Corporation (MCC) regarding repair of interior roads and the blocked Nehru Road near Sooterpete in the city on Thursday March 18.
Addressing the protesters, Appi, Congress party corporator of the MCC, said that the ruling party is neglecting the Congress corporators’ wards. “It is only interested in concretizing the main roads of the city and not even patch work has been done on the interior roads in the city”, she said and added that the roads in Sooterpete area have not seen asphalting since the past three years.
Congress leader M G Hegde said that the ruling party BJP has no idea of development and is not interested in providing service to the citizens. “The ruling party has not known the importance of interior roots and its members only want power to achieve their personal goal of accumulating wealth”, he said.
T K Sudhir, secretary, District Congress Committee, said that many roads in Jeppu and Falnir wards have not been asphalted from the past three years and have become non-motorable.
The protesters blocked Nehru Road near Sooterpete for several minutes as part of the protest.
Opposition leader in MCC, D K Ashok, Congress leaders P V Mohan, and Harinath were also present.
