Bengaluru, Aug 12: Riots always leave scars on the minds of people. However, there is a silver lining in the riots that have taken place in the city on Tuesday night. An act of communal harmony that was seen in the midst of the chaos that was prevailing, has made people still believe that harmonious coexistence among Hindus and Muslims still exists.
A group of rioters had attacked the house of MLA Akhanda Srinivasa Murthy. In addition, they had torched the house also. They even put fire to the vehicles that were parked by the side of the road. However, the Hanuman temple, which is exactly opposite to the residence of the MLA was rescued from the rioters by Muslim youths, who made a human chain and prevented the rioters from gaining access to the temple. This video has gone viral on social media and netizens are expressing their appreciation for the group of Muslim youths for their timely action.
According to the details available, it is said that Naveen, a relative of MLA Akhanda Srinivas Murthy had posted derogatory comments about the Prophet on social media. A group of around 500 people belonging to one community gathered near the house of the MLA at around 9.30 pm on Tuesday, August 11. Some of them tried to enter the house of the MLA. In the meantime, another group started pelting stones on the house. Police opened fire in order to control the crowd in which three people died.
The family members of the MLA were not in the house when this incident took place. The window panes of MLAs house were shattered.
