Byndoor, Aug 11: Mahendra Poojary is elected the first president of Byndoor taluk panchayat unopposed. Malini K is elected vice-president. The elections were held on Tuesday.
Byndoor taluk was newly carved out of bifurcation from Kundapur taluk. Out of 14 members, 9 belong to BJP and 5 to Congress.
Mahendra Poojary is elected president of the taluk panchayat for the second time. He was elected earlier from Kirimanjeshwar and Kambadakone. Malini K is representing Byndoor taluk panchayat constituency.
Mahendra Poojary while thanking those who helped him become president said that the taluk panchayat is determined to make the taluk a model.
District panchayat member Babu Shetty, Suresh Batwady, BJP block president Deepak Kumar Shetty, chief secretary Prakash Poojary Jeddu, former president Sadananda Uppinakudru and APMC president Venkata Poojary were present.
Kundapur assistant commissioner Raju was the election officer. Byndoor taluk panchayat executive Bharathi and tahsildar B P Poojar were present.
