Mangaluru, Aug 10: Henceforth, people arriving into Karnataka from abroad need not undergo institutional quarantine if they do not display any symptoms of coronavirus infection. The state government has modified the guidelines relating to people coming here from foreign destinations. They however, will be required to be in home quarantine for 14 days.
In the past, people returning from abroad were required to undergo seven days institutional quarantine followed by seven days of home quarantine if they tested negative for coronavirus during the institutional quarantine.

Henceforth, in case of people arriving from foreign destinations who display corona symptoms like fever, cold, cough etc, they will be subjected to Rapid Antigen Test. If the result is positive, they have to be admitted into hospital or be isolated at home. If the report is negative, they would be required to be in compulsory home quarantine for 14 days. If home quarantine is not possible because of various reasons, they would be needed to be in institutional quarantine.
People on short visits will have to provide corona-negative reports. At the same time, all the passengers need to register themselves in the Yatri Karnataka online portal.
In the past, people coming into Dakshina Kannada district from foreign countries had to be under institutional quarantine for seven days without exception. Likewise, In case of children aged below 10 and people above 60 years of age, pregnant women and those suffering from different ailments were tested the very next day of subjecting them to institutional quarantine (lodge) by collecting their throat swabs. If the result is negative, they were sent for 14 days home quarantine.
