Brahmavar, Aug 10: The personnel of Brahmavar police station have registered a case against a person who reportedly used abusive words against a clerk of Uppoor gram panchayat (GP) near here.
The complainant happens to be Bhavani (47), a clerk serving at Uppor gram panchayat. She has been serving here since the last 23 years. She belongs to a scheduled caste.
It is said that the accused, Ashwin Prasanna Roche from Kolalagiri within Uppoor gram panchayat limits, had visited the panchayat office at around 10.45 am on July 31. He had raised objections relating to demand of bills for certain works, and Bhavani is said to have provided him information.

Ashwin Prasanna, reportedly demeaning the lady just because she belongs to scheduled caste, treated her with derision, hurled abuses against her publicly, derided her with fake allegations and behaved improperly by insulting her. It is also reported that he also traduced against the panchayat and its employees, obstructed them from discharging their duties, and illegally recorded the proceedings through his mobile camera. The video clip was also uploaded in social media, causing defamation of the complainant. The accused has also been blamed for giving a dressing down to employees besides posing death threats to them.
The Brahmavar police, who have registered a case under different sections of Scheduled Caste and Tribe (Prevention of Atrocities) Act and Indian Penal Code, have begun investigation.
