Kasargod, Aug 9: A young woman who had gone missing on Saturday August 8 was found dead in a rivulet near her house here on Sunday August 9.
The deceased has been identified as Srilakshmi (26), daughter of Narayana, a resident of Karicheri of Kallar Poodamkallu.
Srilakshmi went missing at around 5 pm on Saturday. It is learnt that she was with her family members till around 4.30 pm. She received a call on her mobile phone, and shortly afterwards, she went missing.
Her family filed a complaint in this regard with Rajapura police, after which a search operation was launched. Her family members, the police and the locals together searched for her. Her mobile phone was switched off.
The fire personnel and the locals finally found her body in the rivulet located about half a kilometre from her house.
Srilakshmi was pursuing MSc in agricultural sciences in Gujarat, and had come to her hometown in the wake of lockdown over coronavirus outbreak.
Sources said that she was upset about not being able to complete her studies. However, the cause of her death is not yet known.
The mortal remains were shifted to a hospital for post-mortem.
Police have registered a case and investigations are on.
