Udupi: DC instructs precautionary measures against possible flood in Swarna river

Udupi, Aug 8: G Jagadeesha, deputy commissioner of the district, has instructed all the concerned officials to take precautionary measures against the likely flood that might occur due to the incessant rains that are lashing in the district for the past few days.

In an official reminder DC Jagadeesha said, "Continuous rains are lashing the district since the past few days. We have received a forewarning from the government of India, Central Water Commission Flood Forecast Monitoring Directorate Central Flood Control Room of the water level in Swarna river increasing beyond the danger level and causing flood.

"In the wake of this forewarning precautionary measures have to be taken in the villages that are adjacent to the Swarna river banks and also steps to ensure any damage. All the officials have to be in the district and keep their office telephone and mobile as well as vehicles and required equipment ready to deal with the situation. In addition, they have to submit the report to the district administration about the flood situation and its handling,” he said in the circular.
