Kasargod, Aug 8: The entire district is experiencing torrential downpour since yesterday night. Low lying areas have inundated and rivers are overflowing. The rainfall has gained in momentum after a gap of several days, and as all the rivers are experiencing floods, the situation has become worrisome. Water has entered houses located near the riverbanks.

As River Tejaswini is overflowing, water entered Karyangod, Nilai, Palayi and other areas within Nileshwar municipality. About 15 families have been shifted to safer places from here.

Landslide took place at Bheemanadi Konnakkod. So families living in Muttadi Colony were shifted. Chaitravahini rivulet has also experienced floods. Landslip was experienced in Bayariu Muligadde. Fifteen families were relocated from there in the morning on Saturday August 8. The lives of the family members were saved as they rushed out of their house on hearing the sound of landslip in time.

Sea erosion has intensified at the Uppal, Kumble, and Kasargod seashores. Over 25 houses are in peril. Concrete road laid at Uppala Musody was washed away due to the force of water. Many houses are facing danger there. As Puthige Angadimogaru rivulet is overflowing, low-lying areas have gone underwater. Water entered 16 houses at Kasargod Theruvath Honnamoole.

As many as 150 houses at Talangare Koppal have now turned into an island. As water level is increasing, the officials have asked these families to leave to safer destinations. Many roads in the district have been washed away, and vehicular traffic has been badly hit.

As the force of the rain is worsening, there are chances of more landslides in many hilly areas. The officials have asked the people to stay safe by taking all precautions.

Look at the water level in the well. You dont need a rope to draw water. Directly immerse the Kodapana and take water. Colour of water however needs to be ignored.
