Mangaluru, Aug 8: A magisterial inquiry had been ordered into the firing which claimed two lives during the anti-Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) protest in the city on December 19 last year. The final phase of the magisterial hearing has been scheduled for August 11.
When the police opened fire at the protesters who reportedly were causing disturbances, two people, Abdul Jaleel, and Nausheen, were killed. Udupi district deputy commissioner (DC) G Jagadeesha, who has been appointed as the magisterial inquiry officer, said in a release that people have time till August 11 to submit documentary evidences or record statements.

People having information about the firing incident or those who were eyewitnesses can appear personally at the office of the sub-divisional officer here located in Mini Vidhana Soudha building at Hampankatta in the city between 11 am and 1 pm on August 11. Jagadeesha made it clear that thereafter, no statements or evidences will be accepted from the general public.
