Bengaluru, Aug 7: Chief minister B S Yediyurappa spoke to chief secretary T M Vijaya Bhaskar from the Manipal Hospital, where he is undergoing treatment after being tested COVID positive last Sunday, over the telephone and took stock of the flood situation in the state.
He instructed the chief secretary to proceed with emergency measures without waiting for his formal approval.
The chief minister also called upon the Kodagu district in-charge minister V Somanna and expressed his concern over the landslide in Talacauvery.

Yediyurappa enquired about the missing priest and his family members after the landslide and instructed to carry out search operations.
Rs 30 lac compensation to government servants dead from coronavirus
Meanwhile, as part of the measures to infuse confidence in the government servants of all departments and their families involved in COVID containment work, the state government has ordered that the families of the deceased government employees shall be paid a compensation of Rs 30 lac.
The government order also ensures that all the medical expenses of government servants involved in COVID control work shall be borne by the state government.
