Moodbidri, Aug 7: Hoovayya Moily from here, who was living in Qatar and running tailoring business there since the last 32 years, breathed his last on July 30 due to kidney failure. Moily was being treated at Hamad Medical Corporation, Qatar. He is survived by wife, two daughters, a son and scores of well wishes and relatives.

Even though this is a difficult phase of life when moving between countries has been rendered very difficult on account of coronavirus situation, the mortal remains of Hoovayya were brought to his hometown in a smooth operation where funeral was performed. This aspect has come as a matter of immense satisfaction for the Tulu Kannadigas based in Qatar.

Arrangement had earlier been made to send the body on August 3 by the Mangaluru flight but the flight was cancelled at the last minute. A decision was then taken to send it by Doha-Kannur flight on August 5. As there was no proper arrangement and permission to take delivery of the body and hand it over to the concerned at Kannur airport, MP Nalin Kumar Kateel, and former minister U T Khader were contacted for help in this regard. Both of them responded immediately. The MP got in touch with minister of state for external affairs, Muralidharan, and ensured that permission was granted. Therefore, the body reached Moodbidri in a smooth manner.

The family members including the wife and children of the late Hoovayya have profusely thanked Dheeraj Kumar of the Indian embassy at Qatar, union minister of state for external affairs Muraidharan, Mangaluru MP Nalin Kumar Kateel, MLA U T Khader, social worker Mahboob, patron and former president of Tulukoota Qatar Ravi Shetty Moodambail, Tulukoota Qatar president Chaitali Shetty, vice president Sandesh Anand, Dinesh Shetty Parkala and members of the managing committee for making this possible on account of their sincere and selfless service.

The family said that in this time of grief, it has come as a silver lining that in the history of Kannur airport, for the first time, permission and arrangements were made within one day to receive the body and hand it over to the concerned.
