Kolar, Aug 6: In spite of the fact that his driver and gunmen have tested positive for coronavirus infection, minister Nagesh, instead of opting to get quarantined, took part in the COVID-19 meeting.
Excise minister Nagesh, who also is the district in-charge minister here, has been more in the news for controversies than good work. It may be recalled that three weeks ago, he had participated in a grand feast, on the day when Sunday lockdown was in force, that too, neglecting the need to follow social distancing norms.
Now, his gunmen and car driver have been confirmed with coronavirus infection. But Nagesh, instead of quarantining himself at his home, has been moving around freely.
A coronavirus infection control meeting had been organized under the leadership of Nagesh at the office of Kolar deputy commissioner on Wednesday August 5. Former assembly speaker, Ramesh Kumar, MLC Nasir Ahmed, deputy commissioner C Satyabhama, Kolar KGF superintendent of police and district health department officials were present at the meeting. However, social distancing was forgotten at this meeting. People sat close together without maintaining distance. Nagesh, by participating in this meeting, overlooking corona positive status of his personal staff, totally neglected the government rules.
When contacted, Kolar district medical officer Dr Vijay Kumar said that he is given to understand that the minister has been told to remain in home quarantine after the meeting. He said he is not aware on what basis the minister decided to attend the meeting even though people close to him have tested positive.
At this meeting, former speaker Ramesh Kumar, expressed strong resentment against Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He said that Lord Ram has to save Modi. He pointed out that when Modi announced corona lockdown, the country had 514 cases. "He predicted that the virus would be driven out in 21 days, but now the figure has reached 14 lac. He has been performing puja under these circumstances. May Lord Ram save us, as well as those who are dying, and all others," Kumar, seated next to Nagesh, angrily said.
