Bengaluru, Aug 6: On the occasion of the historical foundation laying ceremony at Ram Temple in Ayodhya, Bengaluru South MP Tejasvi Surya has tweeted saying that control over the state by Hindus was 'absolutely essential' for the 'sustenance of Dharma'.
He continued to say that the Hindus 'lost' the temple earlier because they had no power over the state. 'When we regained, we rebuilt.'
Surya also credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the resurrection of the Ayodhya temple. He maintained that the victorious electoral win of the Narendra Modi government in 2014 and 2019 made the building of the Ram temple a possibility.
In his second tweet, Surya quoted Indian philosopher Sri Aurobindo’s Uttarapara speech equating Sanatana Dharma with nationalism. “If Dharma survives, India survives," he added.
Not someone who is new to controversy, the BJP leader's fresh tweets have caused a stir again. Earlier in April, a five-year-old tweet had resurfaced which put him in the spotlight for using derogatory statements about Arab women. The government had also reportedly requested Twitter to block tweets by the BJP MP back then.
