Udupi, Aug 5: Seetharam Malekudia, a resident of Jangottu Colony, Edu in Karkala taluk, has alleged in a complaint made to the district superintendent of police that Bajrang Dal activists had partially denuded him in the presence of policemen, beaten him up, and spoken ill of the caste to which he belongs.
He said that a person named Abdul Rehman had visited his house on July 22 to buy a goat for celebrating Bakrid. "Bajrang Dal workers wrongly interpreted his visit, blocked his car and attacked him. At 11 pm, they barged into my house, partially disrobed me in the presence of the sub-inspector of Karkala rural station, abused the caste to which I belong, and assaulted me. The police thereafter took me to the police station where a case under the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act was registered. Thereafter, I was released on bail," he claimed in his complaint.
Malekudia said in his complaint that he has been very much distressed by the incident of assault and sought initiation of legal action against the people who manhandled him, and against the officer who committed dereliction of duty.
