Mangaluru/Udupi, Aug 4: In the wake of the bhoomi puja of Ram Mandir in Ayodhya of Uttar Pradesh on Wednesday August 5, dry days have been declared in Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts.
Deputy commissioner of Udupi district G Jagadeesha and of Dakshina Kannada Rajendra K V issued orders banning liquor from the evening of August 4 till the morning of August 6.

Bar and restaurants, bars and wine shops will remain closed in Udupi district from 8 pm on August 4 till 6 am on August 6.
Similarly, the ban on sale of liquor will be in force from 6 pm on August 4 till 9 am on August 6 in Dakshina Kannada district. The order stated that the precautionary measure has been taken to ensure that no untoward incidents take place, as some groups have been expressing opposition on social media to the bhoomi puja of the Ram Mandir.
The ban has been ordered as a precautionary measure to maintain peace, law and order in view of the special bhoomi pujas that will be held in Ayodhya for the construction of Rama Mandir on August 5. Prohibitory orders have also been imposed in both the districts.
