Kundapur: Shankaranarayana sub-registrar office - Unchanged since 1900

Daijiworld Media Network - Kundapur (SP)

Kundapur, Aug 3: The office of the sub-registrar at Shankaranarayana in the taluk was started during the British era in the year 1900. Shankaranarayana is an extremely rural area which is Naxal infested. The said office has not undergone any major changes since 1900 when it was opened.

Villagers from 42 villages including Kota, Brahmavar, Kundapur, Vandse and Byndoor revenue divisions fall under the jurisdiction of this office. This office is in a state of disarray and the middlemen are quite active. Hundreds of people visit this office every day for registering marriages, land/property, encumbrance certificate, mortgage, certified copies etc. The office is located in a small building atop an 80-feet high hillock near Shankaranarayana town and reaching there itself is an adventure.

A delegation of Shankaranarayana taluk formation committee has already met MLA B M Sukumar Shetty, with a proposal to bring the height of the hillock on which the said office stands by 10 to 15 feet and construct a modern building there. The legislator has promised to discuss with the minister and address the problem. President of the committee, Avarse Ratnakar Shetty, convener Chitte Rajagoplal Hegde, priest of Krodha Shankaranarayana temple, Kuppar Ramachandra Aithal, Hiliyana Narayana Shetty and others were the members of the delegation.

Shame on you guys ! and people are still voting those useless representatives. The committee will not come to the conclusion unless personal interest served from TAXPAYERS fund. They are very much interested to build the STATUES and other things but for their day to day work

With 1 or 2% revenue generated from this building or of Mulky Sub registrar office....a small garden city with beautiful building could have been constructed. Thanks to our politicians for not making it to happen!

Same history and condition of Sub Registrar office at Mulki. Hundreds of people visiting every day. But there is no proper road and vehicle parking facility. Surrounding the office is very very dirty. Recently had some work in the office and really surprised to see the environment around and outside the office is very dirty with lots of wild growth and garbage everywhere.!!

Please do not demolish this historical building in the name of development. Maintain this as a piece of art or as a museum. Such preserved architecture is rare to find.
