Mangalore, Mar 13: Mangalore University Post Graduate Alumni Association and SDM College of Business Management will jointly hold a varsity-level students’ literary conference at the college conference hall on Saturday March 13.
The literary conference for the undergraduate and post-graduate students of Dakshina Kannada, Udupi, Kodagu and Kasargod districts, is being held for the past six years.
Renowned litterateur, Kannada Book Authority chairman Dr Siddhalingaiah will inaugurate the conference and Gopalakrishna Pai, a novelist and the author of the well- known novel ‘Swapna Saraswatha’ will preside. Mangalore University registrar prof K Chinnappa Gowda and the principal of SDM Business Management College Dr Devaraj K will be the chief guests.
Three student-centred sessions will be held during the conference which will be moderated by the experts in the field. In the paper presentation session, two select students will speak on ‘Global climate change and the future of the Earth and ‘Hasty industrialization on the rice bowl of the coastal belt’. Manipal Institute of Communication director Varadesh Hiregange will chair the session. There will be sessions for humour and poetry in the afternoon.
Educationist Dr Mahabaleshwar Rao will deliver the valedictory address at 4 pm. He will also give away prizes to winners of the competitions held during the day.
