Mangaluru/Udupi, Aug 2: Dakshina Kannada on Sunday August 2 recorded 163 fresh cases and 10 deaths. Meanwhile, Udupi reported 182 new cases and one death.
As per the district health bulletin, 6,015 are tested positive till date. Out of these, 3,116 cases are currently active. As many as 2,730 persons have recovered and been discharged, and 169 deaths have occurred so far, including 10 on Sunday.
As many as 45 patients were discharged on Sunday from Wenlock as well as private hospitals.
Among the 163 new cases, 107 are from Mangaluru, 13 from Bantwal, 19 from Beltangady, 11 from Puttur, one from Sullia, nine from other districts, and three from other states.
Udupi
As per the health bulletin released by the Udupi district administration, a total of 4,875 people have completed 28 days of quarantine, and an equal number have completed 14 days of quarantine. As many as 1,267 persons are currently in home quarantine.
A total of 325 people are in isolation wards, including 29 fresh admissions on Sunday. Among the new admissions, five are COVID suspects, eight have SARI and 16 have influenza-like illness.
As many as 1,647 people, including 10 on Sunday, have been discharged from isolation wards so far.
A total of 33,378 samples have been collected so far, including 977 on Sunday, out of which 696 are COVID suspects and 231 are COVID contacts. Out of the total samples, 28,088 have turned out to be negative, including 625 on Sunday, and 616 reports are awaited.
As many as 4,674 confirmed cases of coronavirus have been reported so far in the district, including 182 on Sunday. As many as 2,696 patients have been discharged so far, and 1,943 cases are currently active. As per district bulletin, 35 deaths have occurred so far. One more death was reported on Sunday which was a 54-year-old female from Yellur in Udupi. One positive case has been transferred to Dakshina Kannada. As many as 50 people were discharged on Sunday.
The 182 tested positive on Sunday include 107 males and 75 females. Among them, 75 from Udupi, 55 from Kundapur, and 51 from Karkala. As many as 779 are under home isolation. Source of infection of 55 cases in under investigation, 45 have ILI symptoms, six have SARI symptoms, and 76 have contracted infection from other primary contacts. Three each have travel history from Davanagere, Pune and Bengaluru.
