Udupi, Aug 2: Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) and state natural calamity in-charge centres have cautioned the coastal belt of Karnataka of incessant rains accompanied by heavy winds till August 5.
Deputy commissioner G Jagadeesha informed that there is a possibility of more than 115 mm rain during this period. District and taluk level officials are asked not to leave the centres and go anywhere. People living on river banks and sea beaches have been asked to remain cautious. People have been advised to not stand below electric poles, buildings and trees during rain.
Though the IMD issued a caution, the rain was moderate on Saturday. On Friday, there was light rain in some parts. On Saturday, there was cloudy weather in the morning and there was a light drizzle. For the preceding 24 hours which ended in the early morning of Sunday, 24 mm rain was recorded in Udupi. While Udupi has received 41 mm rain, Kundapur and Karkala received 12 mm and 21 mm respectively.
