Mangaluru/Udupi, Aug 1: Dakshina Kannada on Saturday August 1 recorded 139 new cases and four deaths. Meanwhile, Udupi reported 136 fresh cases and six deaths.
As per the district health bulletin, 5,852 are tested positive till date. Out of these, 3,008 cases are currently active. As many as 2,685 persons have recovered and been discharged, and 159 deaths have occurred so far, including four on Saturday.
As many as 54 patients were discharged on Saturday from Wenlock as well as private hospitals.
Among the 139 new cases, 91 are from Mangaluru, 19 from Bantwal, 14 from Beltangady, nine from Puttur, and six from other districts.
Udupi
As per the health bulletin released by the Udupi district administration, a total of 4,875 people have completed 28 days of quarantine, and an equal number have completed 14 days of quarantine. As many as 1,316 persons are currently in home quarantine.
A total of 306 people are in isolation wards, including 30 fresh admissions on Saturday. Among the new admissions, five are COVID suspects, ten have SARI and 15 have influenza-like illness.
As many as 1,647 people, including 35 on Saturday, have been discharged from isolation wards so far.
A total of 32,401 samples have been collected so far, including 736 on Saturday, out of which 437 are COVID suspects and 202 are COVID contacts. Out of the total samples, 27,463 have turned out to be negative, including 716 on Saturday, and 446 reports are awaited.
As many as 4,492 confirmed cases of coronavirus have been reported so far in the district, including 136 on Saturday. As many as 2,646 patients have been discharged so far, and 1,811 cases are currently active. As per district bulletin, 35 deaths have occurred so far including six on Saturday. One positive case has been transferred to Dakshina Kannada. As many as 124 people were discharged on Saturday.
The 136 tested positive on Saturday include 70 males and 66 females. Among them, 65 from Udupi, 37 from Kundapur, and 33 from Karkala. One person from Davanagere is admitted to a private hospital.
