Kundapur, Jul 31: Sunil K R, coordinator of Bajrang Dal (BD), Karnataka province (south), said that the activists of Hindu organization received information that a vehicle carrying beef was passing through Kundapur route at around 10 pm on July 30. They informed the same to the police.

When the activists of Hindu organizations tried to stop the pick-up vehicle near Sangam Junction, the pick-up vehicle did not stop and drove at high speed.

Ranjit (23), a resident of Kandavar was riding his bike along with Dhanraj on pillion on the night of July 30. When they were going towards Tallur on Tallur-Neralakatte road near JCB garage at Parthikatte of Tallur village, a vehicle that was coming from Tallur and proceeding towards Neralakatte hit the handle of the bike and knocked it down. The pick-up did not stop at the spot of accident and sped at high speed. Both the rider and pillion received injuries on their hands and legs and they are admitted to a private hospital. A case is registered at Kundapur police station in this regard. Sunil K R accused that the pick-up vehicle that was suspected to be carrying beef was the one that had hit the bike and escaped from the spot.

Leaders of Vishwa Hindu Parishad and Bajrang Dal met Ranjit and Dhanraj, who are getting treated at the private hospital, on Friday, July 31 and inquired about their wellbeing. Later, they spoke to the media.

Sunil K R said, "The beef traffickers are not only transporting cattle and beef meat illegally but are also threatening people by showing swords. Illegal cattle trafficking is increasing since a week. There is no tradition of hurting the sentiments of a particular religion during the festival of another religion. But this tendency is increasing in the coastal belt of Karnataka.

"In addition to stealing and eating cow, which is revered by Hindus, the traffickers are threatening us with lethal weapons. But the activists of our organizations will not sit quiet after seeing acts of these kind by the cattle traffickers. We are ready to get on to the road to protest. We have already requested the police department. Both VHP and Bajrang Dal will not tolerate these kinds of acts,” he said.

Dinesh Mendon, chief secretary of VHP, Surendra Koteshwara, district convenor of BD, Nagaraja, district Go Raksha Pramukh, Sudheer Merdi, taluk convenor of BD, Vasant Sangam taluk co-convenor of BD and Suraksha Pramukh Gururaj Sangam were present.

What are the police and government doing in all this.....how is it that the activists are getting more info than the poluce and quicker than the police ? Can the police answer y they are so slow or turning a blind eye to all this ?
If the activists are so active recruit them and send them to border to assist soldiers, they will get info on what is hapenning before it happens

What is the meaning of trafficking beef illegally? Beef is allowed officially in Karnataka. Who are these Bajrang / VHP people to stop them? There is no end to such illegal policing it looks like. Even if it is illegally being transported, one has to inform the police to take action. Following them on bikes deserves to be punished.
