Udupi, Jul 31: “Our fight is to save as many lives as possible and see that everyone joins hands with each other as warriors in this service. Everyone is a health warrior at home and therefore they should function like warriors to protect family members,” said Udupi district deputy commissioner, G Jagadeesha, in a message released by him.
“A close look at the developments in the district during the last few days reveals that the number of deaths has been rising."If you have any health issues, or have even minor symptoms of Covid-19, do not wait till the last minute. People should promptly visit the hospital and go through health checks. All treatments are available free of cost. If a person suffers from any kind of symptoms like cold, fever, headache etc, they should not remain quiet at home. It could spread to other members of the family. In the recent trend observed in Covid-19 tests, we have found that we are getting positive reports in primary contacts," he observed.
"Do not go for home remedies to cure your symptoms. This is not the right time to rely on these self-medications. People having concern for family members should approach doctors immediately and get suitable treatment. I urge you again not to rush to the hospital at the last minute," urged the DC.
“According to the death audit of the district, most of the death cases were heart-related issues. Corona-positive symptoms were found among cancer patients, those who have lungs, kidney ailments and also the dialysis patients. Most of them were senior citizens. Protecting senior citizens is our primary responsibility. Because, elders are sensitive and do not have immunity to fight against viruses. If they move outside freely, they will get infected very easily. They may face health difficulties," he warned.
"As we all saw, some people died on the way to the hospital. This should not happen in Udupi. The number of death cases in Udupi is comparatively less than other districts," he noted. He also urged the family members to protect senior citizens by keeping them indoors.
“Our fight is to save more lives and let all join hands together as warriors in this service. Everyone is a health warrior at his home and like a warrior in protecting fellow family members,” he remarked.
"We have been observing that people are not properly aware about Covid-19. They are neither following social distancing, nor wearing masks in public places. I am saying this for the wellness of the general public," he stated.
