Bengaluru: Online sale - Door delivery of liquor might become reality soon

Daijiworld Media Network - Bengaluru (SP)

Bengaluru, Jul 31: The subject of online supply of liquor to the doorsteps of the customers has again been getting a lot of attention in the state.

The Supreme Court had suggested that during the lockdown, the respective states can take decisions which may suit them, on the issue of supplying liquor to the houses of customers after accepting online orders. A few states have begun this practice. It is said that the government is actively considering the practicability of online sale of liquor as it is badly in need of measures to fill its coffers.

The state currently has 11,037 liquor shops including wine shops, clubs, star hotels, bars and restaurants, MSIL outlets, wine boutiques, micro-breweries, military canteen stores etc. They annually bring revenue of Rs 22,700 crore to the state. If online liquor sale is allowed, the government expects to get additional income of Rs 2,500 crore. Therefore, the possibility of the state deciding in favour of online sale is bright, it is learnt.

Good idea. Some more employment to delivery boys. At times, Better drink at home and enjoy with family rather than hanging around in bars and wasting time.

This comes with its own demerits. Parents who dont know how to order online will take the help of their children to order online by using their children's smart phone. Gradually children too fall prey to the habit of drinking..

This will be a game changer...Even with govt strict order to sell liquor on MRP they dont sell , because they are used to charge higher rates. that habit will never change. Hope duplicate liquor selling will stop. corruption in this dept should come down. when govt charges very high taxes on liquor they should at least have some mercy on customers to provide quality liquor.
