Mangaluru, Jul 26: District health officer on Sunday July 26 issued a clarification with regard to the quarantine norms for international passengers returning to Mangaluru, stating that seven day of hotel quarantine was compulsory for them.
There has been confusion regarding quarantine procedures for international returnees. Messages have gone viral on social media that the government has done away with quarantine for international passengers.

In a statement released by the district information department, the district health officer said, "Insubstancial information with regard to the quarantine period of people arriving from overseas is being shared on social media and certain sections of the media.
"I would like to hereby inform that those who arrive from overseas have to remain compulsorily in quaratine for 14 days. Out of this, seven days have to be spent in institutional quarantine (in hotel/lodge). During this period, the throat swab sample of the person will be sent to the COVID testing laboratory. If the report is negative, then they will be sent to home quarantine for another seven days."
He added that concession in terms of number of days has only been given for people with other health conditions, children and the elderly. "For children below 10 years, pregnant women, elderly above the age of 60 years and other with other ailments, the throat swab will be collected on the second day hotel quarantine. If the laboratory report turns negative, they will be sent to home quarantine for 14 days."
Earlier, in a live interview, additional DHO had informed Daijiworld 24x7 channel that international passengers will be subjected to tests on the second day of hotel quarantine, and those who test negative would be sent home.
