Chikkaballapur, Jul 26: A man's house was set ablaze on the night of Saturday July 25 after he allegedly got his daughter's lover murdered. His daughter had committed suicide, and he allegedly got her lover killed in an act of revenge.
This incident took place at Yagava Maddalakane village near Goloor of Bagepalli village in the district. It is said that Venkatesh allegedly killed Harish in revenge for the death of his daughter, who committed suicide as her wish to marry Harish was denied by her parents. Infuriated by the boy's murder, villagers set fire to Venkatesh's house.
A person identified as Gangaraju (25) suffered serious injuries in the incident. He has been admitted to the hospital. Tense situation prevails in the village and extra police force has been deployed to prevent any further untoward incident.
Harish's body was taken to the hospital by the police for post-mortem. When his body was brought back to the village thereafter, enraged villagers entered the house of accused Venkatesh, poured petrol and set it on fire. It is also said that the relatives of deceased Harish insisted on burying his body in Venkatesh's house.
Speaking on the incident SP Mithun Kumar said, "This murder is related to love affair. Daughter of the first accused Venkateshappa and deceased Harish had eloped 10 months ago as they were in love. However, later they returned to the village and expressed their wish to get married with their respective parents. But Venkateshappa opposed his daughter's wish as Harish was jobless. Dejected by her father's refusal, the girl committed suicide. The parents of the deceased girl then killed the boy when he was going by his two-wheeler. He was waylaid and attacked with rod and knife. The situation is tense in the village and additional police force has been deployed to bring the situation under control."
