Mangaluru, Jul 25: In fresh guidelines to those returning from abroad, passengers now need not undergo seven days of hotel quarantine.
Until now, international passengers returning to their hometowns were required to stay in hotels or lodges for a period of seven days followed by another seven days of home quarantine.
However they can now stay in hotels/lodges only for a day and take a rapid COVID antigen test on the second day of their return, and be home-quarantined if they test negative.

Confirming this to Daijiworld 24x7 channel, additional district health officer Dr Rathnakar said, "International passengers need not undergo seven days of hotel quarantine. Certain changes have been made in quarantine system for international passengers as well as for inter-state returnees.
"After their arrival they will be sent to their preferred hotel, as on the first day they must stay in hotel. On the second day, rapid COVID antigen test will be done and the report will be out within 30 minutes. If the report turns negative the person will be sent home for 14 days of home quarantine," he said.
"For inter-state returnees there will be no hotel or institutional quarantine. They will be sent home for 14 days of home quarantine. If symptoms develop during these 14 days, swab test will be done," said Dr Rathnakar.
